Sora by Overdrive

Sora, the student reading app, is Delaware’s gateway to the industry’s largest selection of ebooks and audiobooks for schools. All Delaware students and educators in grades K-12 have access to this online reading platform and the shared digital books purchased under the statewide account. Users can also download and use the Sora app on their phone.

Users click on the Sora by OverDrive app in ClassLink in order to access the platform: http://launchpad.classlink.com/redclay

  • When logging in for the first time, click the link for Delaware Accelerate Learning, then choose Red Clay Consolidated School District and sign in.

Additional Information:

  • Borrow Ebooks, Audiobooks, and Magazines.
  • Open an Ebook and ...
    • Click or click & drag to turn the page.
    • Click the paper icon to change between 2 page view to 1 page view.
    • Click the A icon to change the EBook's appearance to your liking.
    • Click the magnifying glass to search for information in the book.
    • Click and HOLD to make a highlight on the page.
      • Change the highlight color.
      • Look up words in the Dictionary.
      • Add a note to accompany the highlight.
    • Click the upper right-hand corner to bookmark pages.
    • Click the bookmarks icon to view all notes, highlights, and bookmarks.
    • Use the Snipping Tool on your computer and take a screenshot of the text.
    • Click in the middle of the screen to hide or show the tools.
  • Explore books that are curated by Collections. Click Explore, then Collections
  • Share a Collection with students by opening the Collection, then copying and pasting the link into Schoology for students.
  • Share an Ebook, audiobook, or magazine with students by clicking the text and viewing the summary page. Then copy and paste the link into Schoology for students. Do not fully open the book. 
  • To view a summary of the book, locate the text, click the text to open the summary page, then select "see book details." 
  • Some Ebooks are designated as "Read-along ebooks" in which someone reads aloud the book to students. Most Ebooks do not have this option though. Students can use the Snap&Read extension with an Ebook if they would like to hear the book read aloud. 
  • When you are finished with the text, be sure to "Mark it as done." This will return the text to the library so someone else can borrow it.

Add your public library card to Sora and read books located on both systems. Click the three lines in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Click +Add Library. Select the Public Library where you have a library card. When you borrow your first book from the public library, you will be prompted to enter your library card.
