GoGuardian Teacher

GoGuardian Teacher

GoGuardian was purchased by DOE for State Content Filtering during the summer of 2021. Red Clay switched to GoGuardian and also purchased GoGuardian Teacher for student Chromebook classroom monitoring.

Teachers will access GoGuardian Teacher through ClassLink. Log into ClassLink using your Red Clay Account credentials, then click the GoGuardian Teacher tile. All class lists and rosters will be uploaded to GoGuardian Teacher from ClassLink and should match your eSchool schedules and rosters. There is no need to manually create classes in GoGuardian Teacher.

If needed, teachers can navigate to the GoGuardian Teacher sign in page and click Log in with ClassLink.

Log in with ClassLink

  • Important step! When you log into GoGuardian Teacher, click the Pending Classrooms tab and "Accept" the classes that you would like to actively use. Click here for in depth instructions.

Important Notes regarding Scheduling of Classes

  • It is not recommended to create classroom schedules. Scheduling classes means that classroom sessions start and stop automatically. Scheduling classes is problematic for schools that have block schedules and do not have the same set schedule for every single day.
  • Classes should be started and ended manually to help prevent students from being “stuck” in a class and therefore blocked from another teacher that is trying to bring the student into their newly started session.
  • Even though students can be in multiple sessions at once, there are times when this overlap can cause confusion with Scenes and students can get "stuck" in a Scene. Click here for more information.
  • GoGuardian is working to revise their Scheduling feature to better accommodate schools with block schedules. If the Scheduling feature is improved we will inform teachers of the change.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • I do not see one of my classes listed in GoGuardian Teacher or my student list is incorrect in GoGuardian Teacher. What should I do?
    • If a classroom is missing or a roster is incorrect, check in eSchool. Remember, your classrooms and student rosters are uploaded from ClassLink via eSchool. Cross check your rosters and schedule in eSchool. If you see an error in eSchool, please inform your school administrator. If eSchool is correct, wait 24 hours and check GoGuardian Teacher again for the updated information. If GoGuardian Teacher is still incorrect, call the technology help desk.
  • How do I create a classroom for a small group or an after-school program, etc?
  • I cannot see my student’s screen in GoGuardian Teacher but the student is sitting in my class and I see their Chromebook working. They appear offline in GoGuardian Teacher. What should I do?
    • First, check for the GoGuardian extensions (there are 2 of them) on the student’s Chromebook when they open the Chrome browser. If they have the extensions, then restart the Chromebook. When the student logs on again, make sure the student is logged in as themselves using their own credentials. If you still encounter issues, call the help desk.
    • The extensions look like this:

  • How do I set up my students for learning by automatically closing tabs and blocking websites?
    • Scenes are designed to give teachers added control over students' web activity during classroom sessions. Teachers can enable a list of allowed or blocked websites, set a tab limit which will then automatically close tabs on students' Chromebooks, or automatically push out website that students need to navigate to. Click here to learn how to create Scenes.
  • I am having problems using Scenes. How can I solve these problems?
  • Do we have the video conferencing feature in GoGuardian Teacher?
    • Red Clay did not purchase the Group Video Conferencing feature because we purchased Zoom instead. Any video conferencing with students or others should be done through Zoom. However, teachers can use GoGuardian Teacher during their Zoom sessions. Additionally, teachers do have access to the Lecture/Presentation feature. This is a 1-way communication tool that allows teachers to present their screen, turn on their microphone, and turn on their webcam to deliver instruction to one or more students.
  • I am having trouble blocking and allowing websites in Scenes. Can you help?
  • I created a Scene, can I share it with another teacher?
  • Can teachers Merge Classrooms?
    • Yes, Teachers can use the Merge Classrooms feature to combine 2 or more existing classes & class rosters into newly created, merged classes. Click here for more information.
