A Message from Superintendent Green

Dear Red Clay community,

Red Clay acknowledges and celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month. The United States Congress approved Public Law 90-498 in 1968 to designate the week of September 15 as National Hispanic Heritage Week. The week-long observance was expanded in 1988 by Congress to a month-long celebration (September 15–October 15) and named National Hispanic Heritage Month.

In observance of Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor, celebrate and acknowledge persons of Hispanic descent and our community members from Latin American countries for their diverse cultures that embrace family, tradition, food, music, and dance. Let's embrace our diversity and show support to our community members during this month-long celebration that honors the spirit of self-determination, dignity and respect for cultural heritage.

The theme for 2022 is Unidos (United): Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation. One-third of Red Clay’s student demographic identifies as Hispanic/Latino.  Therefore, let us unite to celebrate and strengthen our school district in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month.
