New Castle County Supports Reading Program at Mote
New Castle County is supporting a reading program that has taken center stage at Anna P. Mote Elementary School.
Superintendent Dorrell Green and Mote Principal Anthony Gray-Bolden gathered in the school library to welcomed New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer and accept an $880 check supporting the “One Book, One School” program.
The funds support the purchasing 220 copies of “Magic Tree House: Pirates Past Noon” which was read by the entire school this year. The school will perform the musical version adapted from the book at its annual performance on April 21 and 22nd.
Principal Gray-Bolden said the support of New Castle County came at a great time for the school. “One of our primary goals is to create a culture around literacy and reading,” he said. “It helps to make our kids better readers…It was also great to have Mr. Meyer spend time with, and read, to the children.”
