First State School has a new assistant princpal, Cynthia Mathis. She oversees our program and the Meadowood Program (K-5). She earned her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education from Wilmington University; her Master's degree in Special Education from Wilmington University; and her Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University.
Prior to becoming a school administrator in the Red Clay Consolidated School District a little over six years ago, she was a middle school special education and English Language Arts teacher for Caroline County Public Schools in Denton, MD. This is her fourth year as Assistant Principal of the Meadowood Program and her first year with First State School.
