MYP Cross Country Shines at States

2022 was an unprecedented season for the MYP boys' cross country squad. For the first time in school history, they sat on top of the running world, winning the DAAD Middle School Invitational, the unofficial state championship of middle school cross country. Could they repeat as champs this year?

Alas, an encore was not in the cards, but the squad finished in a close second out of 26 teams to winner Beacon Middle School. Still, the Rams ran an impressive race with Colin Dempsey (2nd), Tyler White (4th), Sheldon Bushong (10th), Rahul Bejjanki (11th), and Gabriel Yeager (20th) earning medals.

On the girls' side, the team finished 9th out of 26 teams, but 7th grader Lauren Leech ran the race of her life, winning the girls' race in a school record 13:28, five seconds ahead of the runner up from Newark Charter.
