Salutations for Sailors

For the second year in a row, the Middle Years Programme, under the organization of English teacher Jenna Flickinger, has partnered with the Port of Wilmington's Seaman's Center to provide donated goods for visiting seafarers at this busy port. The objective of the drive is to collect items like toiletries, puzzles, and books for sailors who have to stay at the port for sometimes two weeks at a time. The Seaman's Center provides crews with an opportunity to get off the ship, communicate electronically or by phone with loved ones, or even mail out a letter. This year, the MYP collected 1,018 necessary items for the drive alliteratively known as "Salutations for Sailors."
