10th Annual Biotechnology Fair

Conrad Schools of Science 10th Annual Biotechnology Fair

Hello,

My name is Bill Coughlin. Cristin Brown and I are biotechnology teachers at the Conrad Schools of Science in the Red Clay Consolidated School District.

Please accept this as an invitation for you to attend our 10th Annual Biotechnology Fair in the Conrad Schools of Science cafeteria on Tuesday, March 26th from 2:30 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.

We are encouraging the community, parents, local scientists, and business professionals to support our students by viewing and interacting with them regarding their research projects. The students greatly appreciate your interest, attendance, and any input you would like to provide. This is a great opportunity to foster the communication between our schools and the communities we serve. One of our goals is for our school to be a pipeline into the scientific community that solves global problems and finds cures for society.

The Biotechnology Fair is presented by our Biotechnology II, III and IV students. The Biotech-2's have created trifold posters and portfolios and will be presenting topics that represent the latest techniques scientists use today in the field of biotechnology. They chose their and created a visual display of their solution.  The Biotech-3’s and 4’s will be presenting the findings they collected from their own experiments. These students had the opportunity to design and plan every detail of their research. Some of the research they conducted included methods of creating biofuels from algae and food waste and methods to recognize the optimal time to extract energy from algae according to the light intensity produced when it glows. Other research projects have sought to solve a real world problem to benefit society such as finding cures or remedies. The Conrad Schools of Science Biotechnology Fair provides Biotechnology II, III and IV students with the opportunity to present their findings through research and experimentation to the scientific community.

In addition, please feel free to forward this to anyone you think may appreciate attending. We are always looking for better ways to serve our community as a pipeline from our school to your institutions. Please feel free to introduce yourself at the fair or provide a method of contact if you would like to be more involved with Biotechnology at Conrad Schools of Science.

Thank you very much for your time, and we hope to see you there!
