Brandywine Springs’ students are committed to helping others. They will held their 4th annual day of service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. on January 21, 2019 from 10:00a.m. –. This year bus transportation was provided from three different locations.
Students, staff and volunteers all worked together to increase their impact on as many lives as possible. Organizations supported by Brandywine Springs’ day of service include Alex’s Lemonade Stand, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the military, St. Patrick’s Center, B+ Foundation and WE Club.
There was a letter writing to soldiers project and a painting for “peace” project where children created a tile with a message of peace. They collected gently used clothing which was transported to the Clothing Bank of Delaware. In addition, refreshments including lemonade, soft pretzels and Snowman Soup were available for sale.
Through the day of service coordinated by Dr. Heather Townsend, the Brandywine Springs school community is committed to changing the view of MLK Day from a long weekend of relaxation and fun to a time of citizen action. Students, staff and volunteers are motivated and ready to do their part to set an example for others.
