Principal's Office
Tiger families,
We hope the start of the school year has gone as smoothly as possible for you. Our students are quickly falling into a routine and the first few weeks have been a success! Thank you to our families for supporting their child(ren) as they get back into “school mode”. As we stressed last year, regular attendance and consistent on-time arrival to school are vital to our students’ success. Being present and prompt will prepare students for what will be expected of them throughout the school year and life beyond A.I. High. Also, we encourage all students to get involved in at least one club or team. Interest meetings for various clubs will take place over the next few weeks. Information about clubs and academic teams will be announced through the morning announcements over the year.
Tiger Families,
We have had a fantastic start to the school year! It feels like just yesterday we welcomed everyone on day one, and now we are nearly a month in. As we continue moving forward together, I’d like to remind you of some important rules that ensure a safe and positive school environment:
- Students must arrive by 11am to be marked present for the day.
- Students are not permitted to leave campus without proper documentation from a parent or guardian. Please note, no early dismissals will be granted after 1:50pm.
- Students must arrive on time for all classes.
- Student drivers are required to have an AI High-issued parking permit and park in the designated student lot.
- Clothing must be school-appropriate and cover the entire torso. Additionally, hats, hoods, and masks are not allowed unless for medical or religious reasons.
- Cell phones should be turned off and put away during class time.
Our climate and culture team are dedicated to supporting every student, every day.
Cell Phone Policy
Here are a few key points to remember:
-
Cell Phones /Cell Phone Accessories are Prohibited during Class: Cell phones/earbuds/headphones must be turned off or placed in silent mode and securely stored in your backpacks /pockets or designated areas during class time. Students will not be permitted to use/access phones/electronic devices/earbuds and/or headphones (outside of Chromebook) in classrooms for any reason. (a classroom is designated as any space used for the delivery of instruction is i.e., gym, library, athletic fields, weight room, tech labs, nurse’s office)
-
Students may use their cell phones/electronic devices/earbuds/headphones during transition times in the hallways, cafeteria and restrooms. For safety reasons, we recommend students access only one ear bud at any time.
-
Students with an immediate need to contact a parent or guardian may request permission to access phone in a private area such as an administrators/school counselor’s office.
-
Parent(s)/Guardian(s): Please contact AIHS Main Office is there is an urgent need to contact your child during the instructional day.
-
Students may not use their cell phones/electronic devices to take pictures or video of other students, teachers, administrators without their expressed written permission.
Tardy Policy
Being on time to class is crucial for several reasons:
-
Maximizing Learning Opportunities: Arriving on time ensures that you don't miss any important information or instructions from the teacher. It allows you to make the most of the learning experience by being present for the entire class session.
-
Respect for Teachers and Peers: Being punctual demonstrates respect for your teacher, classmates, and the learning environment. It shows that you value their time and efforts in preparing for the class.
-
Establishing Good Habits: Punctuality is a valuable life skill that extends beyond the classroom. By being on time to class, you cultivate a habit of reliability and responsibility that will serve you well in future endeavors.
-
Minimizing Disruptions: Late arrivals disrupt the flow of the class and can be distracting to both the teacher and other students. Being on time helps maintain a positive and focused learning atmosphere.
-
Building a Positive Reputation: Consistently arriving on time to class builds a positive reputation with your teachers and peers. It demonstrates your commitment to academic success and professionalism.
-
Avoiding Consequences: Many teachers have policies regarding tardiness, which may include penalties such as missed participation points or even disciplinary action. Being punctual helps you avoid these consequences and any negative impact on your academic performance.
Students are expected to be in class (inclusive of the first period of the day) and prepared to work when the tardy bell rings.
- Senior Class Assembly on Wednesday, 10/2 at 10 a.m. to share important information in regards to College and Career resources and planning.
- “Launch Into Your Future Week” for the seniors from 10/14-10/18. Each of the senior English classes will have one block in the Library dedicated to working on College and Career Readiness activities, such as college applications, scholarship searches, career exploration time, training & apprenticeship information, military, etc.
