HBMS at a Glance

  • Middle school is a great time for students to explore and discover what activities they like and don’t like. They start to figure out “who they are”. At HB duPont Middle School, we provide opportunities for students to do just that.

    Enrollment: 800 Students

    Student Day: 8:05am - 3:00pm 

    Students at HBMS have three 70-minute class periods per day (ELA, Math, Science or Social Studies). Students see their Social Studies and Science teachers every other day. In addition, students will have two exploratory classes each day.  Students have two 40 minute exploratory periods per day. They attend  the same two exploratory classes for one semester (two marking periods).  

    Academics: English Language Arts (ELA), Math (including Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and Geometry), Science and Social Studies 

    Exploratory Options: Art, Band, Business (7th and 8th Grade), Chorus, Computer Science (7th and 8th Grade), Family Consumer Science (FCS), Jobs for Delaware Graduates (JDG), PE/Health, Spanish, Technology Literacy (6th Grade), Technology Education (7th and 8th Grade).    

    Music Department Options: Beginner and Advanced Bands, Chorus, Chamber Choir, Strings, Men’s Choir, and Jazz Band 

    Clubs and Organizations: Art Club, Best Buddies, Business Professionals of America (BPA), Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Lego Robotics, Math Counts, Math League, Musical, National Junior Honor Society, Odyssey of the Mind, Science Olympiad, Technology Student Association (TSA), Tennis, Yearbook

    Sports:  Softball, Field Hockey, Boys Volleyball, Co-ed Soccer, Co-ed Cross Country, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Wrestling, Girls Lacrosse, Boys Lacrosse, Baseball, Track and Field, Cheerleading

    Dress Code: Students are required to wear a solid color polo shirt and docker/uniform style pants or HB Spirit Wear.
