AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), an academic support program that helps students prepare for college and careers.

What is AVID?

AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. It's an academic support program for students in grades K–12.
AVID's goal is to help students prepare for college and career success.
AVID helps students develop skills like note-taking, time management, and organization.
AVID also helps students learn about colleges and universities, and how to apply for financial aid.
AVID helps students explore career opportunities.
AVID aims to close opportunity gaps for students.

How does AVID help students?

Academic Skills: Students learn study skills, note-taking, time management, and organization.
College readiness: Students learn about the application and financial aid processes for colleges and universities.
Career exploration: Students learn about career opportunities through research, guest speakers, and curriculum.
Critical thinking: Students learn to ask probing questions and participate in activities that encourage inquiry.
Collaboration: Students work in collaborative study groups and peer tutoring.
