Advanced Placement (AP)
The College Board's Advanced Placement (AP) courses are college-level classes offered in high school that give students the opportunity to explore challenging academic content, build college readiness skills, and potentially earn college credit. These courses are developed by the College Board and are recognized by colleges and universities across the country. Taking AP classes can help students stand out in the college admissions process, deepen their knowledge in subjects they’re passionate about, and even save on future college costs. This page is designed to help families learn more about what AP is, how it works, and how students can get involved.
The following are a few of the AP courses are offered at our high schools. Availability of courses vary by high schools. Reach out to a high school counselor from the list below to learn more about what AP courses are offered at your Red Clay Consolidated high school.

AIHS Students Advocate for AP Programs at Federal AP Day on the Hill
Two AI duPont High School students had the unique opportunity to attend the Federal AP Day on the Hill in Washington, D.C., alongside Red Clay staff. The event allowed students to share their personal experiences with AP courses and advocate for continued federal support of Title IV funding, which is crucial for expanding access to quality education.
Title IV funding supports programs that enhance student academic achievement and well-being, including Advanced Placement (AP) courses, by providing resources for schools to offer rigorous and comprehensive educational experiences. Our students’ participation highlighted a commitment to educational equity and access, reflecting the core values of AI duPont High School and Red Clay.
This experience was not only exciting but also a powerful opportunity for our students to engage in meaningful advocacy at the national level. We are proud to see our AP Capstone Program students representing AIHS and promoting the importance of these programs!
I am so grateful that my school pays for AP tests. I am the oldest of 7 children and I would not have been able to take any AP classes if we had to pay to take the test. I want to go to college and these classes are really helping to prepare me.
