If you meet the following criteria - residing in the Red Clay Consolidated School District, being at least 18 years old, and being a citizen of both Delaware and the USA - you can exercise your right to vote at one of the 15 designated polling locations below. Remember to have valid proof of identity, such as a State Driver's License or State ID.

    • Polling stations open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

    Who Can Vote to Support the Referendum
    You can vote if you:

    • Live in Red Clay Consolidated School District
    • Are at least 18 years old (this includes everyone in your home)
    • Are a USA and Delaware Citizen
    • Show proof of identity and address – bring your Driver’s license, State I.D. card, or Passport.
    • You do not need to own property or be a registered voter.
    • If you are unable to go to the polls, you can request an absentee ballot

    You can vote at any of these locations. There are no assigned voting locations (you can only vote at one location).

    3. If you have made an appointment, you can vote in the Department of Elections Office before noon the day before the election.

    Absentee Ballot
    You can apply for an absentee ballot for the referendum by accessing the voter portal at https://de.gov/schabsapp. The Department of Elections will send these absentee ballots through the U.S. Mail, as Delaware Code prohibits electronic delivery or return of referendum ballots.

    Who can vote by absentee ballot?
    A person who:

    • Is a United States citizen;
    • Is a Delaware citizen;
    • Lives in the Red Clay Consolidated School District
    • Is at least 18 years old;
    • Completes and signs an absentee affidavit and cannot vote on Election Day because of a reason on the affidavit.

    What are the deadlines?

    • The Department of Elections recommends that your Absentee Ballot is received no later than four days before February 28, 2024.

    How can I get an absentee affidavit?

    • The most convenient way to request a school district referendum absentee ballot is to visit this website. 
    • The Department of Elections sends absentee ballots by U.S. Mail because the Delaware Code does not permit electronic delivery or return of school election ballots.
    • Email (absentee@state.de.us) or call the Department of Elections (302-577-3464) and ask them to send one to you.
    • Pick one up at the Department of Elections.

    Is There Support for Seniors? 
    Yes, the State of Delaware offers tax relief to seniors. Residents aged 65 and older who meet specific residency requirements (3 years if you established residency before 12/31/2017; 10 years if you established residency after that date) can qualify for a school tax credit of up to $400 on their primary residence.
