Alternative School Packets

  • Alternative School Referrals

Contact Hugh Broomall when a school believes a student may need consideration for an alternative placement meeting.

As required by the Child Find mandate included in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act 2004, schools are required to locate, identify and evaluate all children with disabilities. Packets will be reviewed to ensure compliance with the Child Find mandate.

Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and Positive Behavior Support Plan (BSP) documents are required for alternative school committee packets.

    Student Code of Conduct

"Placement in an alternative school/program to address behavioral, motivational, or disciplinary problems will be implemented after the behavior management interventions that can be implemented in the regular school program are attempted. If the regular school's principal determines that such intervention measures are unsuccessful, placement in an alternative school/program may be recommended. Prior to placement in an alternative school/ program, the regular school principal will meet with the student and his/her parent(s)/guardian(s) to discuss the parameters and benefits of the alternative placement."
