Dear Heritage Community

On behalf of Mr. Palkovitz and the entire Heritage staff, I would like to extend a sincere thank you for all “teamwork” it took to make the 2020 2021 school year successful. Whether you remained virtual or came back in person, we were all riding the waves of this historical time together. Each person or group involved with Heritage, parents, students, teachers, support staff, custodians, cafeteria, office and Admin, all came together to adjust, improvise, and create a year that was indeed successful. We at Heritage wish for you a wonderful and peace filled summer!

If you are a returning family, we look forward to seeing you in August!

If you are a family coming to Heritage with a new Kindergarten student, and have not registered, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible.

If you are wondering if Heritage is the school for you, let me share a few thoughts about myself, Mr. Palkovitz, and our Heritage mission. I will be entering my 6th year as Principal of Heritage Elementary this upcoming year. The years have flown by and Heritage truly is my 2nd home! I take great pride in so many aspects of the Heritage community. The teachers are dedicated, happy, and devoted to each and every student. The families at Heritage are kind, nurturing, and see Heritage as a place that reflects the values and character traits they are also instilling in their children. As a community we approach each and every child with respect and kindness. We follow a Love and Logic philosophy which builds accountability without shame. Our practice is one of nurturing children to become the best they can be, fully recognizing they are growing and learning daily.

Mr. Palkovitz is about to begin his 2nd year as our Assistant Principal. Between Mr. Pal, as he is known, and myself, we have a pretty good idea of appropriate childhood behaviors. I am the mother of 6 children, 3 sons and 3 daughters. I am also the grandmother (Memere to my grandchildren) of 5 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. Mr. Pal has a beautiful young family with two daughters and two sons. Together we feel we understand children pretty well! Mr. Pal follows a mindset of progressive discipline with approaching children from the perspective of learning and growing to be their best selves. Mr. Pal is also a dedicated environmentalist and takes great pride in including students in the planting of trees and their upkeep!

Our missions statement includes this statement, ‘Where children will grow in their love of learning.” We feel that if your child can leave Heritage with the values you’ve instilled, supported by the same high expectation for strong character traits at Heritage, and enjoy learning and discovering more about themselves and the world around them, then we have done our job!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our office if we can help you as you decide if Heritage is the right place for you. Heritage is called, “The Hidden Gem of Red Clay,” and we truly believe that our actions uphold that title!

    Ms. Conlin
