Falcon Parent Newsletter
August 9, 2023
Welcome Back!!

Hello Falcon families!
I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying your summer break. I am the new principal at Stanton, Matt Robinson. I am thrilled for this opportunity to lead what I consider one of the top middle schools in Red Clay. For the past few years I have served as an assistant principal here at Stanton, but I am excited to take on this new role and help take Stanton to the next level.
We have some exciting changes coming to Stanton this year. From cell phones to dress code to teachers and staff, even a new Stanton. It is certain to be an exciting year to be a Falcon. As we inch closer to our new school year, our Falcons have been busy this summer. Our teachers have been getting classrooms up and running and our students have been participating in our Summer SOAR program. It has been a full summer! Read on below for more details!
I look forward to being an active part of our community. My door is always open to you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with concerns or to just chat. Together is where we will make the most impact. SOAR on.

Cell Phones
Students will no longer be permitted to have or use cell phones at Stanton Middle School. We at Stanton are parents too and understand the need for students to carry cell phones to school. However, once inside school cell phones pose a huge distraction to our middle school students and affect their learning. For this reason cell phones must be “off and away during the day.”
This means:
-
all student cell phones must be powered off when they enter the building.
-
Cell phones must be stored in student lockers or in a pocket/string bag/purse out of sight.
-
Cell phones are no longer permitted in the cafeteria, hallways, or any other location during the instructional day (8am-3pm)
-
Students who are found using their cell phones at school for any reason will be at risk of having their phone confiscated and a parent will be required to come to school to retrieve it.
We at Stanton also understand that you may need to speak with your student during the day, but remind you that your child’s education is important and calls during the day should be limited to emergencies only. In this case, please contact the main office at 302-992-5540 and we will put you in contact with your student. We also will allow students to make calls home from the main office phone as needed.
Dress Code
Stanton’s former uniform code is no longer in effect. Students will now be expected to follow the Red Clay dress code. Please see the following link to Red Clay’s student handbook and navigate to page 15 for more information.
The highlights are as follows;
-
No revealing clothing
-
No alcohol or drug references. For example, “cookies” will not be allowed.
-
No guns or weapon references
-
Shoes must have a sole, no slippers or flip flops
-
No hoods, hats or head coverings are permitted at any time (religious attire is allowed)
Polos, khakis, and Stanton spirit wear will always be recommended. What about jeans you say? Well, this year they are allowed! As long as they are not full of holes and revealing. Have fun expressing yourself!
Back to School BBQ and Meet the Teacher
Come join from us on August 23, 2023 from 3:30pm to 5pm here at Stanton for a welcome back BBQ and a chance to see the school, your classrooms, and possibly meet your teacher before school starts!
We will have an inflatable bounce house to bounce around in, Stanton spirit wear for sale, ice cream , and food trucks for your enjoyment. Onsite sports physicals will also be available to keep your student athlete eligible for the coming school year. Oh and make sure to sign up and get a fresh cut or hairdo to start the year. Volunteers will be here to fix your fade or braid your hair. Please just make sure to check the QR code to sign up for an appointment. Hope to see you here!
