Dear McKean Community,

Welcome to Thomas McKean High School and our proud Highlander Family.  My name is Reginald Worlds, the proud principal of this great school.  I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition both inside and out of the classroom. 

McKean has earned a reputation of excellence through the hard work of our students, teachers, parents, and staff.  McKean is proud to support numerous challenging academic courses, second to none Career Pathway Programs, diverse athletics, visual and performing arts programs and various school clubs for students.  We encourage you to experience our school culture, one that is focused on providing students with the academic and social resources that will prepare them to achieve their post-secondary goals. 

At McKean we believe that it is important for our students to be connected to school through positive relationships and a strong sense of community.  We believe that every student can learn and be successful if provided the right supports and opportunities.  Our teachers and staff are committed to providing all students with an appropriate and challenging educational experience in a respectful environment that fosters learning and growth.

One of our goals is to help each student get a job now and find their career for their future. In order to achieve this goal, we take a personal approach to supporting students at their achievement level; we collaborate as professionals and with our families; we have some of the strongest vocational programs in the state. We are the most diverse secondary school in Red Clay and our diversity is one of our strengths  (28% Caucasian-28% African-American-33% Hispanic, with 35% Students with Disabilities and 15% English Language Learners).  We expect our students to get involved in community service opportunities, grow from setbacks, and to become leaders.  Our staff strives to find the right supports for each and every student, so please partner with us to find what works best for your child.  We are blessed with many resources and the best staff around.
